D. Weston Boyd has had a financial planning practice and been affiliated with Sagemark Consulting/ Lincoln Financial Advisors, previously Cigna Financial Advisors, since 1990. Prior to then he had an extensive career as an executive with such Fortune 500 firms as General Mills, Inc. and AT&T. His practice uses business management and modeling techniques to help clients to set concrete goals, create actionable plans, reduce uncertainty and conscientiously manage risk to help preserve, protect, and perpetuate wealth for themselves and those they care about. Wes was born, and raised, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He received his BA from Williams College in 1965 and then attended the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, where he received his MBA in 1967. Among the states he is insurance licensed and FINRA registered to practice are Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.
Wes was awarded his CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER) designation in 2000. He has lectured often on “Behavioral Finance: Why Smart People Make Big Money Mistakes”. He is also active in his community, by sitting on the Board of Directors of The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, being a member of The Boston University Tanglewood Institute Advisory Counsel, and as a member of the Foundation Board for the Hospital for Special Care.
Wes lives in Avon, CT with his wife, Joann. He has successfully put into practice a number of the planning techniques he endorses. First, setting aside sufficient funds during the first years of life of his daughter, Alicia, so she could graduate from the College of William and Mary in 2000, and of his son, Ryan, so he could graduate from Williams College in 2005 without needing to dip into current cash flow to pay tuition during their college years. And he now has set up 529 plans for his young grandchildren, Caleb and Claire.
